Jesus Club moved outside…

Not enough space in the classroom for all the kids

In 2017-18 we started dropping by Fesler Jr High and working towards meeting some of the needs on campus. We helped with mentoring various students, sometimes bringing lunch or coffee to students or teachers.

The principle and staff were very welcoming, often allowing us to use the conference room to mentor students, and inviting us to help out in the classrooms where some of the more troubled students often cause problems.

Eventually we had a pretty good sized crew of students who would meet us for lunch, and we would bring pizza for them.

As the school year ended we talked about growing our group into an official club for the new school year.

Our beloved principle was moving to Tommie Kunst (A jr high nearby) so we ended up starting our club there, and then circling back around to Fesler in January of 2019.

The new principle had been hearing about our activity there in the past and was very welcoming of us being on campus again.

Their school split the lunch period into two parts to help cut down on fights on campus. So now with Lunch A and Lunch B being back to back, we would be running two clubs, one right after the other.

Our first day back on campus we packed out the classroom with over 150 kids, for each lunch period, reaching over 320 students, roughly 1/3 of the campus.

The kids LOVE pizza, and we are able to use that as a way to bring them in to hear a message about Jesus.

Several of the kids we have talked with have started following Jesus.

We are so honored to have an incredible opportunity like this to encourage kids from this school, many who’s parents or family members are involved in gangs or in jail. We often hear very alarming stories of things they have been through already in their young lives, we are thankful that we get to pray with them and help walk them through some of the difficult parts of life.
