Moving outside the four walls of the church

Outliers is about bringing Jesus to those outside the church. We are serving and empowering those in our community in several different ways.

In local public schools, we bring Jesus Club, pizza, and inspiring stories from the Bible to students from all different backgrounds and faiths.

Find us in local parks, gathering on weeknights, building a strong community with young people, empowering them to make positive changes in their lives, at home, at school, and in the world around them.

Student leaders are taking Jesus to their neighborhoods, bringing food to those in need, and praying for the sick from house to house.

Jesus Club at Tommie Kunst Jr High

We love these students!

We love these students!

We are so privileged to be able to bring Jesus Club to students at Tommie Kunst Jr High.

At lunch time, the students quickly make their way through the cafeteria, and then line up for the club. Once the cafeteria is cleared, we let the Jesus Club kids come in, each one grabs their pizza, throws their backpack against the wall and finds a seat on the floor.

We usually do a fun game while everyone is getting fed and seated, and then we talk about what the Bible has to say about things the students are going through, like how to find the right friends, dating tips, how to forgive people who hurt you, how to avoid extra drama, etc.  More information →

Fesler Jr high Jesus Club

They moved us outside after we packed out the classroom

In 2017-18 we started dropping by Fesler Jr High and working towards meeting some of the needs on campus. We helped with mentoring various students, sometimes bringing lunch or coffee to students or teachers.

The principle and staff were very welcoming, often allowing us to use the conference room to mentor students, and inviting us to help out in the classrooms where some of the more troubled students often cause problems.

Eventually we had a pretty good sized crew of students who would meet us for lunch, and we would bring pizza for them.

As the school year ended we talked about growing our group into an official club for the new school year.  More information →

Becoming a Part of God’s Family

God sets the lonely in families

God sets the lonely in families

Many young people we encounter have one or less biological parent in their home, and often lack the role models they need.

Our gatherings are designed to create a family environment, centered around Jesus. Students pray for each other, and share life updates together in a group setting. Their group mentor helps bring guidance and clarity to some of the difficult circumstances they are facing.

We have seen students grow in maturity and some have become student leaders. Several have gone from failing all their classes in school, to getting straight A’s, we have heard from parents that attitude issues at home have shifted and gotten better, and we have seen them go from not really caring about God, to opening up their hearts and getting excited about knowing Him more.  More information →
